Old Sluice Gate by ladymagpie

Old Sluice Gate

Walking along the toll-path today, doing a bit of geocaching, I came across these old sluice gates which use to transfer the water from the canal to the mill river below.

Thankfully these old parts are being saved and make a good historic picture. It's very close to the Roundhouse you can see in one of my earlier photographs.

Best viewed with the magnify button above the pic.
Great details. Glad they're being saved.

Love seeing this bit of history...all greens and grays with just a touch of brown and blue in the left background...is that a fence? Wonderful shot, as usual!

@connie865 Your observant Connie, the blue is a road warning sign and yes the brown is a fence. Thanks for your comments.

Beautiful photo! You have so much history there:-) Not to appear stupid (I hope), but what is geocaching? I see the term a lot from my UK frients:-)

@stormi40 Thanks Marilyn. Just look up geocaching.com It's a modern treasure hunt using your computer and a hand-held GPS. It started in America about 10 years ago.
