I get myself in places when geocaching that at my age I shoudn't go. This is a fine example when I had to cross the river to a little island to find the object.
Simple you might think, but each step was not fixed and wobbled, two where just old slippery logs and the steps on and off the bank was a slippery mud patch. I made it there and back with nobody else around - my family would kill me if they knew what I was up to.
I think it would have been safer rolling my trousers up and removing my socks and shoes for a paddle.
