The Canal Ends, for the Moment by ladymagpie

The Canal Ends, for the Moment

At last the weather turned for a couple of hours and I was able to get out to the countryside I love so much. I took a short walk along the very last bit of the Stroudwater Canal, to the point where it had been filled in for a mile to accommodate the M5 motorway, it's going to take some restoring.

The picture is taken from on top of the last lock looking towards where I had just found a geocache. On the other side of those distant trees there are bridges in the middle of open fields now spanning nothing.

Best viewed with the magnify button above the picture.

Beautiful water reflections! I love your photos of the canals.

Have you gotten flooding rains? Have been reading about the terrible rains and flooding along the Thames.
February 15th, 2014
@congaree Thanks John, We are in the county of Gloucestershire where the Thames begin. We have major flooding from the River Severn and nearby the River Frome, fortunately I live half way up a hill.
