Living on the Hillside. by ladymagpie

Living on the Hillside.

Another view around my valleys and many houses are built on the hillsides. They make the villagers fit around here with so many roads and paths to climb up and down.

In the village of Chalford, you can only reach some of the homes by narrow footpaths and because of this some people use donkeys to get the shopping etc. home. This has been going on for hundreds of years.

See the donkeys at work:

Love this image, Heather. I've been studying the details. Particularly like imagining what the scenery at the top of the hill is
Iike close-up.

@philcameron59 @congaree @linnypinny @kathiecb @teamquavers @ourrube Thank you all for your nice comments. Lin well spotted on the red door, I hadn't noticed that. Kathie the reason they zigzag down the hill is because they need to make the roads that way.

Heather, I love your landscape photos like this. What would you say is the average age of the houses pictured here? It's a beautiful scene.

@khawbecker Thanks for looking, I would think most of them are 1880 or before, if there is any new ones they must be built in the same style.
