A Look around the Village. (No. 1)

I thought I would let you all see the various buildings around my local villages just to see what beauty there is around me. The buildings will all be within a mile of my own home and from many different century's.

This is a typical home built around the 16th or 17th century, made of painted cotswold stone and stone tiles. Note the mullion windows indicating it's age and, as with many houses, built on a slight hill slope.

Best viewed with the magnify button above the picture.
That house has so much character. Great photo of it.

Wow, such a beautiful old house!

Fascinating, Heather, to see the types of houses people lived in centuries ago in England. We have many 18th century houses in the historic section of Charleston, but nothing that old. :-)

Super shot. Neat idea to have a tour of the village. If this is painted what is the original colour of the stone?

@kathiecb Thanks Kathie, you will see in future pictures what colours the local stone is.
