To most people this is just an ordinary footbridge over a railway, and you are right, Yet to me this was a main part of my life for 12 years. We moved to the area in 1951 and whilst my parents moved into our new home we as the children were sent to find this bridge on the edge of the estate.
For the next 12 years I spent almost all my spare time, with my friends, sat on the platform half way up the bridge waiting for the steam trains to come along. It was a very busy line going down south to the coast, and we could see them approaching from a distance.
We often rushed up to the top so that as the train roar underneath we would be surrounded by the heat and smoke - such happy memories and it hasn't changed at all in 60 years.

A lovely capture and story! As much as I love my computer (it brings many friends into my home every day) I do sometimes long for the days of hanging out with the gang in my neighborhood. Your capture reminds me of those days. Fav!
The romantic age of steam, these trains had something about them, even though they were dirty, they had a character of their own.Don't think kids watch trains anymore!!
