We have had thunder, lightening and hailstorms today with a bit of sunshine in between, the English weather is strange at times. Did mange to capture this lovely male chaffinch on the lookout before jumping on the feeder.
The chaffinch is the UK's second commonest breeding bird, and is arguably the most colourful of the UK's finches. Its patterned plumage helps it to blend in when feeding on the ground and it becomes most obvious when it flies, revealing a flash of white on the wings and white outer tail feathers.
A lovely shot of a handsome fellow. I was sitting in the jacuzzi at the swimming pool when I heard thunder and also thought the ceiling lights were flickering - a bit scary!!!
Well it came on AFTER I got in!!! And at first I thought the noise was something gone wrong with the jacuzzi mechanism!!!!
(hazelnut - yes!)
