A Capture with Stile. by ladymagpie

A Capture with Stile.

I have an 120 year old photograph that shows children on the canal towpath, and just beside them is this stile looking neat and tidy with matching fencing either side.

There were no brambles, nettles or hedges whereas today it's bash and battered with various ugly fencing either side. I just look and think how many people have stepped through here. You will note that they think us walkers are thick and pu yellow arrows to show which way to go. Oh I see it's over the stile and not into the canal water.

See the old photograph in my Extra Photo section, no need to comment on that one, just for reference to this stile.
So sad. Such a big difference.

Ah, I saw the old photo first; now I get the connection. This is a wonderful shot of the old stile. Think of the stories it could tell. Fav

Very new to me, Heather. Have never seen anything like it. I often see or learn something new every time I come here.

Looks good for 120 years old. The sign must be for the daft tourists.

As I said on the capture I wasn't suppose to comment on (LOL) I love the comparison - what amazing history this old stile represents.

I think this stile needs a bit of TLC - the other photo was good to see, thanks.
