On my walk around the Painswick Churchyard, I was impressed with the old gravestones and tombs. This on in particular took my eye and looking at others it seemed that some family's had been trying to out do others
I didn't have time to go over and look up the monument's engraving, but I wonder if this has anything to do with Egypt. One thing is for sure, they certainly made a point with this headstone.
A a side-note I chosen the words for my memorial, it should read, "Well I enjoyed that, lets hope I gave some people a laugh". Don't think my family could afford a pyramid though.
LOL - well spotted and captured. The first thing that came to mind is that they are trying to attract aliens - they won't have any problem seeing it from space!
I'd love to know what the inscription is - I have never seen one like this. Great find. And I love the words you have chosen for your memorial (though I sincerely hope that is a very long time in the future). I think sometimes (I know I do) forget to have a good time while we are here. And your sense of humour is marvellous.
Or the family wishes that the person underneath stays put. (okay, I'm a fan of Reaper Man, a Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett and the story of Windle Poons)
I love wandering around old graveyards and churches. You learn so much about the local families that way. A pryamid suggesrs to me that this was a masonic grave. When next you look, see if there is a pair of compasses inscribed, or maybe he was a builder?Just a thought.
This is a new one for me. Great find. You must go back and learn more. Perhaps he wanted his spot easy to find. Not one of those "under the grey arches" directions.
