Well I thought I should be serious for a change, (no chance I hear you say), and show you this lovely photograph that I took yesterday in the nearby churchyard. It's inspired by a similar photograph put on a Gloucestershire page in Facebook the other day.
Selsley church stands next to Stanley Manor, the home for hundreds of years of Lord and Lady Marling and their families. Although the church was built by the family it was separated by this high wall with these holes in it. The family had their own door to go to church.
The view is of the Manor clock tower above the servants quarters, and you can also see some reversed letters in the metalwork. This was for:
BCM: Lady Beatrice Caroline Marling (1861-1941)
PCM: Colonel Sir Percival Scrope Marling (1861-1936)
The graveyard was covered in soft moss and made walk around the graves difficult, glad there weren't any open graves, knowing me I would have fallen in.
I really like the framing and interesting facts. But, you can't help it. You just have to throw in that wonderful sense of humor - glad you didn't find something to fall into.
As commented by others, you have framed this very well. Great contrast of colours. And it's great that you take the time to give a description, where appropriate, to tell us all a little bit of information about the subjects. Keep up the good work.
Thank you all so very, very much for all your FAV's and comments. I was so pleased how this picture came out. Can someone explain how this picture is one of my best FAV pictures yet it doesn't get on my OWN best picture list, I don't mean the pp page.
I am not sure sometimes I am really pleased with a picture and it almost goes unnoticed and other times I put something up and it gets loads of comments. I think maybe because we all see something different and it touches a cord with us
