Early this morning I was topping up the bird feeders when I noticed this thing on the peanut holder. It looked quite strange at first until my brain got into gear, well it was early, and realised it was a moth of some sort.
The peanuts have been a complete failure so decided that the moth could help it'self, whereas I had to know what it was. A quick search on Google and the creature was found, It's a "Silver Y Moth". Look closely about halfway done each wing and you will see a distinctive upside down silver y, hence the name. Can I call myself an expert Lepidopterist now, go on, you know you want to look it up.
View with the dark background and thank you for looking and commenting on my Frog eyed view, I finally got up from ground level.
Great find - Fav I must admit I didn't know what it was when i first looked at it so you are not alone and I can't even say that it's early!!! Our peanuts are going down rapidly due to the tits and of course those naughty squizzers!
This is a great close up. I revised my view of it being a dead leaaf when I looked more closely. Just heard on the radio It's National Moth Night tonight http://www.mothnight.info/www/ Fav
Around here the woodpeckers love the peanuts. It takes a few weeks for them to find but when they do it's on like donkey kong. They hang almost upside down and rock the feeder. Like your post processing.
