Making Hay while the Sun Shines by ladymagpie

Making Hay while the Sun Shines

Posting a bit early today as I'm working on a live football match as it's being played Good Friday instead of Saturday.

This picture gave me an idea to look at a proverb which I haven't done for some time, so what does "Making Hay while the Sun Shines" mean. It was first used in 1546 and today it means: Make the most of one's opportunities while you have the chance.

Of course being March this hay must have been harvested last year for Winter food for the animals. It's a lovely old Cotswold Barn with a metal hay store being added later in the farms history. I think you might notice that the farmer perhaps needs some tractor driving lessons, looking at the bent front metal supports.

Thank you for all your comments and FAV's for yesterdays tabernacles.

Note the block & tackle also , but my dad as a boy would stook the hay in sheaves and it was threshed by a steam engine driven thresher

the farmer sure does need driving lessons, on first looking, those trolleys placed inside the hay looked like it belonged to a tractor
