I've had a long battle with the pigeons and have come out the winner by placing the feeders in a position where they can't quite reach them. There is something sadistic about watching a pigeon stretching as far as it can to reach the seeds while slowly sliding down the curved metal bars and then finally falling off. Lady Magpie 1 Pigeons 0.
Now I have to solve the problem of greedy jackdaws and starlings. Yesterday I put a handful of those meal-worms in that hanging basket and when I turned round there were 4 starlings on the rooftop of the cottage over the road watching me, just like Alfred Hitchcocks film The Birds. Within minutes of me going indoors they had been down and scoffed the lot.
I think I may have come up with a cunning plan, but I will save that until tomorrow when my bird battle saga will continue. View this picture with the dark surround and thank you for all your comments and FAV's.
Very annoying Heather I agree but big birds like food too! I think because they are so big & bossy looking we think they should get their own! I will watch your progress with interest!
Lovely shot, but I feel quite sorry for the pigeons. We only get crested pigeons where I live, but they are always at the end of the pecking order. Everything else pushes them out of the way.
