In many towns and villages, the windows are so bright
To celebrate the National Health and all of their great might
They’re saving lives every day, we rely upon their training
So put a rainbow in your home, the windows are for framing
-
Thursday night and we are there, clapping at our doors
Celebrating what they’ve done, for you and me and yours
These people are all heroes; their names should be in lights
Working in our hospitals, all hours through day and night
-
One elderly man has done much more, walking many strides
Up and down his garden drive, he’s become the national pride
Captain Tom is his name, he belies those hundred years
Then celebrates his birthday, a fly past with three cheers
-
As this man has done so much, to make us all donate
Raising millions of our pounds, at such a rapid rate
So make your rainbows for your home, clap on Thursday night
But please make Captain Thomas Moore, a SIR, you know its right.
Gracious Heather that is the most glorious rainbow in that window, someone has worked overtime on that! Suits the window shape too. Your poem is so spot on too....clever girl! You need to post this on FB.
