It's been a real mucky day today, with the rain keeping me indoors; also quite cold which tells me autumn is really on us. Bet you 365 friends are smiling down in Australia and New Zealand.
I decided to give you another view of one of our valleys, with the capture taken from one of the common lands above. These hilltops are used by dog walks, families having picnics when the weather is good, but mainly by farmers letting cattle, horses and even a donkey to roam wild for the summer period.
The view is looking down on the village of Thrupp, which is typical of some villages in the area with homes and terraced houses clinging to the hillside. In days gone by workers left these homes to work in the mills in the bottom of the valleys, which were run by the rivers.
I've just noticed that I have memories of a large house right in the centre of the picture. When I was small child, my Mother and Father used to visit an old aircraft pilot friend, and I was taken with them to play in the gardens. I can't remember his name but he was one of the famous Dam Busters pilots during the war that bombed and destroyed the German Dams, Obviously an RAF colleague of my Dad.
I hope you can see why I love the 5 valleys that I live in, never wanted to move away.
Love how the houses intermingle with nature and the tree on the hill side ! So good to be able to reminisce as you look at the different areas of your valleys . Much colder and mucky day here today too - so I have succumbed to the heating on in the house !!
