I'm having problems getting out and about at the moment, a very wonky knee and the village road being dug up. So I thought I would share some of the wonderful places around our valleys that I have been whilst taking part in my favourite activity, Geocaching and of course photography.
This is Jackdaw Bridge over the main railway line going to Swindon and on to London. The geocache was in the woods on the other side of this unusual bridge. I had already climbed up from the road down in the valley and was taking a breather when I took this picture.
This is not a bridge for motor traffic to cross, but although it’s very steep might at one time taken a tractor or cattle coming down to the farm. Today it's a footpath and covered in bushes and weeds, I have to admit I needed the railings to pull myself across it.
On the other side the trees were on a very steep bank, and as I hunted for the geocache container, hidden in some tree roots, I was worried I might slip down the bank before dropping down onto the railway line. With the cache found and the logbook signed I was glad to get back down and return to the valley below.
This cache has now been moved to the same side as my picture, but isn't this one of the most interesting bridges in my area. As I said in my title, it was almost "A Bridge to Far".
It’s an amazing bridge….I have never before seen a bridge that has that angle. It must feel strange walking over it & looking down at the tracks. Hope your knee improves rapidly but good you have photo spares.
