I came across this pigeon that was not happy and was having a real sulk, it even turned its back on me. "What's wrong I asked", us magpies can talk the same language, “It's this flipping Christmas again, all I hear is turkey this, turkey that, what's wrong with us pigeons, they want us in the summer don’t they".
"Calm down, I said, it will soon be over and turkey won't get a mention for another year". The pigeon turned round on the branch and cooed. "If it's not turkey it's chicken, what have they got that us pigeons can't give them all year round?"
"And another thing, all they want is snow now, that white stuff that's freezing our bones in winter; I should have flown south and migrated with those smart swallows or swifts". “I’ll give them snow; they can have as much white stuff that I can produce on their cars and washing."
I tried to console the pigeon to make it feel good, but it finished it's conversation with. "Can't wait for everyone to go vegan, then we won't hear about turkeys all the time". It flew away to the woods and I bit into a carrot, it's not the same you know as meat.
So gad Lady Magpie that you were able to talk in bird language and try to reason with this disgruntled Pigeon - at least no one mentioned Pigeon Pie ! and by the way a great shot !! - fav
Great shot and story. Tell Mr Pigeon not to be too upset at not being the centre of attention because it didn't end too well for the turkey at Christmas.
Mr. Pigeon is indeed having a bad day. He didn't quite listen to these conversations. Talking about other birds, they talk about cooking. Let him be happy that they ignore him (magpies too).
