Cordingley Cottage by leggzy

Cordingley Cottage

Part of the Taralga historical museum.
The cottage was dismantled from its original location on a property & rebuilt by members of the society at the museum site back in the 1980's. It has been furnished inside with colonial style donations to the society and is typical of an early Australian settlers cottage.

I really like the setting that it is in with the timber fence around it & the lovely old gum tree in the background.
Fabulous old cottage

Such a lovely cottage. I'd love a look around. It's incredible to imagine how those first settlers used to live. However, I'll bet that the original people living in this house were very proud of it and comfortable living in it. Love the veranda!

Some of my kids ancestors were among the first people in the Taralga area. They were brought out from England by James Macarthur to work there.

@jeneurell how interesting. It is a beautiful area, but I imagine life would have been pretty tough back then.

I can imagine the father of the house lounging on that porch in the evening contentedly sipping a beer at the end of the day!
