Noss

After a very calm trip North I headed up on deck to check out the sights. I thought we were further north than usual for the time and right enough we were taking the long route into Lerwick through the North Mouth of the harbour. The Ship's Masters have to do this a certain amount of times each year in order to maintain their "ticket" which allows them to berth without the need for a Pilot. In 36 years of travelling up and down however this was the first time I'd experienced this.

Noss which is an NNR still has quite a few gannets about most of whom seem to be younger birds
