This river runs from the Texas Panhandle to Arkansas and Louisiana. It defines the border between Oklahoma and Texas. In 1821 it was the border between America and Mexico, that changed in 1845 with the Texas Annexation when the Rio Grande River became the border between the two countries. It got it’s name from the red-bed country of it’s water shed in the Panhandle and is one of the longest rivers in the South. We crossed over it going to Oklahoma Saturday. This is another 70 mph photo, smile.
Gorgeous colours and impressed with your high speed photography. My folks did a road trip across the USA and every photo was taken from the car and there was no hiding that fact!
Fantastic capture of the Red River while crossing over into Oklahoma! I always enjoy this scene when we're driving to/from Canada...this is the route we usually take from Texas to Manitoba. :-)
That's a darn good on-the-move shot - love the red earthy color against the blue of the river. Guess the only time I've been in Texas was a trip to Galveston back in 1968 - just before I started teaching.
Thank you all so much for commenting and faving and putting this on the PP, oh my! I would love to see the river today, I have a feeling it would be full, bank to bank, we’ve had so much rain and more is on its way!
is that the famed red river valley in the song? t
