Jim's U.S. WWII Waltham compass for V-Vector by louannwarren

Jim's U.S. WWII Waltham compass for V-Vector

I know this is a stretch for you mathematicians and physics geniuses on 365, for me to use this as my “vector” photo! At least in my eyes a compass is used for navigation and direction and that leads to a vector having direction and determining the position of one point relative to another. So with tongue in cheek, I offer this small family treasure for the Aug18words challenge today of V-vector.
Simply beautiful in its golden coloured case and a well worth exhibit for today's challenge

Lots of detail and textures on show here Lou Ann, looks like its had some use, navigation is all about angles and calculations so fits perfect as vectors:)

@beryl @farmreporter @gijsje @joansmor @mittens @ludwigsdiana @danette @summerfield @rhernan @henrir @pcoulson @sarah19 @suzanne234 @onewing Thank you all for your wonderful comments! Jim was an Army troop transport plane pilot during the war. When he completed his Army tour of duty he flew fire fighting planes, dropping chemicals on forest fires in Montana. He was a great American, one of the “Greatest Generation”. He passed away before Jerry and I married, but I heard so many tales of his bravery, I felt like I knew him. Thank you, @suzanne234, @henrir, and @danette for your faves!

@henrir Jerry said the planes he flew in the Navy vectored their position as they flew. I considered taking a photo of one of the planes flying into DFW for my vector photo....

What a wonderful creative thought for the word, Lou Ann. And the way you presented this is excellent - love the light and the heirloom feeling it has.

@milaniet I especially appreciated that they allowed no flash photography. It is a fabulous museum. 3 of the trails were closed for renovation, we walked some of them a bit (Jerry’s hips don’t allow long hikes any more). All in all a breathtaking museum and grounds. @milaniet @happysnaps @kgolab Thank you! I was so pleased this ended up on the TP and PP!
