Half of the lights in this basket had burned out and had to be replaced. This kind of capped off my “Christmas light wars” this year. I put up two trees and both of them had whole sections of lights out that I had to replace. There’s nothing that takes the wind out of my sails faster than having to replace/rework Christmas tree lights. Anyway, the basket is lit and so are the trees and all is well in my world. Smile.
@sugarmuser I had whole sections of my trees out. The largest tree was out of warranty this year, wouldn’t you know?! Many of those ornaments are super old and just too fragile to hang on the tree, so the basket is the best place for them. @grammyn I was crazy the day I set the trees up and so many lights were out. Jerry said “look, we will just get rid of them after Christmas”, that helped, a little. 😊
I had a whole middle section out last Christmas - said I was going to look for a new tree for this year (didn't) guess I'll do like last year and use that extra string I bought in the middle. You're right to name it the light "wars"! What a good idea to use a basket for those older ones you don't want to risk putting on the tree but still part of your Christmas decor.
I love the old glass ornaments! Wow - they pre-date me - I remember them from our tree and my older siblings. love this shot - the joy of Christmas lights - that story somehow, remains the same, year after year.
I love the basket idea and your photo of it with the lights is beautiful!
I feel for you and the broken lights, but Jerry is right :)
A few years ago just after Christmas we bought an artificial tree for almost nothing, but last year the middle section of the lights gave up. We will put the tree up as long as we stay here, but it will not do an international move :)
Well done on completing your Christmas decorations early Lou Ann we have all the trials and tribulations still to come, I like the basket idea we may have to adopt the same:)
@kaylynn2150@bkbinthecity@milaniet@happysnaps@ludwigsdiana@elatedpixie@onewing@kwind@ingrid01@pcoulson@joansmor@momamo@beryl thank you all so much for your wonderful comments, I know you understand my frustration. Smile. Everyone who decorates for Christmas knows that feeling. Trees will be a really good price the week after Christmas so I’m sure we will go tree shopping then! @ludwigsdiana oh I’m sure your ornament filled vase is beautiful! Would love to see it in your photos. @ingrid01 I am sure you have beautiful ornaments from your family’s travels and your tree is lovely. I have a few Delft ornaments from Amsterdam, isn’t that where you are from?
