I was thrilled of course because it was a restaurant that highlighted fried chicken and they had wonderful chicken decorations everywhere. I loved the rooster etched on the glass! The restaurant’s name is Whistle Britches, which brought back a lot of memories of my mother. She called me whistle britches a lot when I was a feisty teenager. 😊
Lovely composition and details Lou Ann, I thought whistlebritches was urban slang for when you couldn't remember someones name, are you sure why your mother called you that, lol:)
@pcoulson Whistle Britches has so many definitions. If you can’t remember someone’s name, you call them Whistle Britches (W B). If they are very outgoing and active you call them W B; when wearing corduroy pants, the sound they make rubbing together on the inside of your legs when you walk is called W B. It’s a southern thing to call your feisty kids W B. Several of my friends said their folks called them Whistle Britches when they were young, so I was in good company. 😊
@louannwarren my sister and I often lament the loss of colorful phrases. Every once in a while, I will surprise my kids with something I didn't even realize I said. One night with friends, I used the word "hornswoggled". Only my friends from Alabama understood!
