Sunflowers by louannwarren

Sunflowers

There were just two bouquets of sunflowers at Market Street yesterday. The floral dept. clerk said they can’t keep them in stock since the Ukraine war started. I read that sunflowers pull toxins from the soil into their stems and leaves and the Ukrainians planted them at Chernobyl. I’m not sure that is true though. They are the world wide symbol of solidarity with Ukraine now, for sure. For the yellow flower word and yellow rainbow day today.
Beautiful pov!

Lovely image Lou Ann it correct about them planting Sunflowers at irradiated sites, sunflower roots pull both cesium 137 and strontium 90 out of the water. after they've done their work, the sunflowers are disposed of as radioactive waste:)
