Very exhausted in the midday heat! by ludwigsdiana

Very exhausted in the midday heat!

It was such a hot day at Aquila and the animals were trying to find some shade. Being in the Karroo, the land is exceptionally dry and barren.
It's a hard life!

They blend in with the arid grounds. Well captured. They do look tired.

Great shot. You have handled the extreme contrasts of shade and very bright light very well indeed

Great capture of the lions. This is a very natural pic. as I`m told they love to sleep 20 hours a day.

Amazing animals. This morning we were looking at traveling to SA in Oct/Nov. We are thinking about doing a self-driving tour (wine region, beaches, parks). Do you recommend it?

That lion on top appears to have melted in the heat. (Awesome sight you've seen here. I'm envious!)

@sstcowan That sounds like a great idea Shari as there are so many wonderful sight to see. If you want to see the best wildlife, you would have to go to the Kruger National Park :-)

@gardenfolk They most certainly do, I was amazed to see how little water was there. There was a truck driving around and trying to sill a few water holes for the animals. It is such a hot and drought stricken area. I felt rather uncomfortable and sorry for the animals.
