Artichokes by ludwigsdiana

Artichokes

in my neighbours garden. I have never seen them grow before, we just used to enjoy eating them.
I love artichokes!! Never seen them with this coloring. When we lived in California we were near Castroville, the self proclaimed artichoke capital of the world!!

Thistles grow here also. We love them...before they get to this stage. We seldom leave them to this stage, but they certainly have a gorgeous flower.

Great shot, great focus. We are never without artichokes during the Summer months. Both me and Christine love them with salad dishes.

Hi Diana! Have not seen artichokes so colorful! In regard to your question about the textures I use. I have some from Photomorphis called Luminous Alchemy Ultra. I also love Jai Johnsons textures. You can find her on Daily Texture.com. I love her Energy In Nature textures which are actually on sale now for $12.00. I had to type in the name of these textures on her web site because she has so many selections and I couldn't find them. She also has tutorials on youtube. I go crazy shopping on her website. Like a kid in a candy store! Hope this info helps.

They are very colourful, are these the edible Jerusalem artichokes? Lovely capture.

@photographycrazy It seems that we have a very serious issue here, because the area where we usually live in Brittany is another self proclaimed artichoke capital of the world. :-)

I always think there's an awful lot of effort for a very small return with artichokes. But they look great in the garden.

@louannwarren She lets them go to flower Lou Ann, much too late to eat them ;-)

@joysfocus Thanks Joy, you are a star! I will try to get hold of some. I just still please have to know it you cut out your subjects and put them on a plain layer, before adding the texture. Thanks so much for your help :-)

@craftymeg No they are not Jerusalem artichokes, those look more like little potatoes. These are called Globe or French Arichokes :-)
November 27th, 2019
@golftragic You are right about the effort Marnie, they do taste fabulous though ;-)

@ludwigsdiana Yeah --- if someone else does the fiddly stuff. I used to grow them in my back yard.

@ludwigsdiana Hi Diana! I usually put in the texture background first and sometimes alter it or add another on top of it and then duplicate in PS. I duplicate each texture and image that I'm using. Then download the image I want on top and duplicate. Then I use the quick selection tool to cut out the image. Then click on move tool and left click on image ( I use a mouse with my MAC) you may already know this stuff, then left click on image and keep holding it down and move image up to background in top bar then keep holding and bring it back down to screen. Background will show on screen and then you can let go of image. So yes I use the quick selection tool a lot because it's easier for me than anything else. Then if there are edges or parts of the moved image I don't want I use the clone stamp tool to erase those parts. A lot of times I will add other textures on top of my image too. Hope this helps and makes sense because of course I'm on my 2nd glass of Chardonnay. lol
