so close to us, it was rather scary. They are so huge and obviously used to vehicles with people. I was surprised to see how many they had here. They are still being slaughtered all over for their horns.
Amazing close-up! I can imagine it was scary. We went on a safari in SA too once and came scarily close to a buffalo, who was a lot bigger in RL than in photos!
Fascinating - have you seen any with their horns removed - I had heard that rangers did this in areas where there is a lot of poaching. I don't know if that's true or not?
@robz Although I have personally not seen any Rob, the ranger was telling us about it. Many game reserves where the security was not as tight had to do it, such a pity and so sad :-( @redy4et Yes we were in an open jeep Elizabeth, there were quite a few who just walked on the road and the ranger had to pass them. I suppose they are used to feeing safe there :-)

Such mgnificent animals - tragic that they are still being killed for their horns :(
