They're so pretty- they remind me of something similar- I think they're called Japanese Lanterns and they are a bright orange color. These look like they're made of lace!

@merrelyn After seeing your shots last year Merrelyn, I planted one. Do you leave yours on the bush until it gets a skeleton? The little one I found on the ground but the big one stayed on until it looked like this. Unfortunately the fruit rotted in it and I had to cut it out ;-)

@ludwigsdiana I usually find the skeletons on the ground. They're much easier to photograph if the berry is still intact, but I have found them with dried out berries and with no berry at all. I usually have at least a couple of dried out skeletons in a bowl for days when I can't find anything else to photograph. The fruit also freezes really well. I take the berries out give them a rinse and pop them into a bag in the freezer and just keep adding to it. They make lovely jam and I'm a big fan of stewing them with apple.
