What is this flower was the original question! by maggiemae

What is this flower was the original question!

An arrangement in our bathroom which is mainly white and has a big mirror at the back of this. These lovely white flowers are blooming in different places around the garden. I am sure someone can enlighten me on their name - I probably know it but have forgotten it - I'm awful with plant names!

Thanks to @beryl , we know it is hellebore! And others who instantly recognised it!
Three good things:
1. I always remember to take photos!
2. Our broadband is so fast that it goes pfffttt and its there! 365 viewing is so much faster!''
3. I feel like taking a photo of some food dish but have got to get it together and decide what to make!
Instant fav --You have captured this lovely flower arrangement beautifully-and the whole thing has been enhanced by your sensitive & expert editing . You may remember that the flower is a hellebore (Christmas Rose ) fancy me remembering it, as like you I am not very good at remembering flower names !!

Lovely. Beryl is right, they are hellebores or otherwise known as Winter Rose here.

Looks like a columbine maybe
September 20th, 2013
@peterdegraaff thanks Peter for your contribution - having googled columbine, I wish I could shoot one of these! Others above have a better view than mine and have said it was a winter rose (growing in Spring but nevertheless it is)!

@skipt07 thanks Skip - your name amuses me because this shot is taken in my bathroom....."Skip to the loo my darling". What was that about !

So soft visually, I love the pale yellowy green flowers & even better with a mirror behind them...I never think to put flowers in a bathroom, must try it !!
I noticed a massive difference to the enjoyment of 365 when I got my new computer tower, the speed is fabulous so I know exactly what you mean!!

Luxury is ... having flowers in the bathroom

@maggiemae - I have received a lot of teasing about my name over the years. I have been called Skippy Peanut Butter most often. As a matter of fact my mother would occasionally say, Skip to My Lou my darlin' to me. This song goes way back and in the original song it was, 'Skip to My Loo'. But the word 'loo' came from the Scottish word 'Loo' for 'love'. So the song meant, 'Skip to My Love my darlin.' Loo was later changed to 'Lou'.

Wonderful soft shot Maggie.

Very pretty capture. I like the soft, pastelly look and the mix of greens and neutrals.

It makes a lovely arrangement - I think it's the original wild sort of hellebore that we have in our garden - I keep planting exotic varieties but they don't come up.

It's a fav for me, whatever it is. Love the soft shades and colors.

I agree with others about the name of the flower. Love the dreamy effect here.

I love these flowers too Maggie, they are so unusual. Is it a tree or a bush. I have seen a tree with green flowers somewhere in Welly, off at the weekend to take some shots, might need a stepladder :)))

@frida It flowers in a bunch about 1 foot high. It must be a bulb because it dies right down in the winter. Thanks for commenting, Frida!

The treatment of this is perfect.
