Rhodo in the morning by maggiemae

Rhodo in the morning

Various rhododendrons are coming out in our garden and they are quite different from each other. All just beautiful and worthy of a place in today's posting.

Three good things;
1. Team NZ would have won the first race if they hadn't abandoned it due to time limits
2. Team NZ wouldn't have lost the first race if they had not tried to be clever.
3. NZ are together just now!
Pretty. I like the soft colour of the petals.

@olivetreeann Thousands of NZers are getting together to watch the races, Ann - good humour and friendship abound!

@grammyn I was hanging out the window for this shot as the bush grows right underneath it! Thanks Katy!

@glendq You are miles away from this action, Glenda - held in San Francisco Bay, it is a yacht race between two boats. A real challenge and our team in NZ has managed to get to be the one who challenges USA!

I keep forgetting you're the other side of the world, so I initially did a double-take when you talked about rhododendrons coming out. A lovely bright shot!

are the petals the really thin kind almost like paper? i had always thought they were some kind of lilies. they're quite lovely and look delicate.
September 22nd, 2013
@summerfield They are very thin and finely veined - a bit like fine silk. I'm glad I caught that characteristic.

So delicate - so beautiful! I have to say 365 is making me look at flowers in a different way ;)
