The Ferry from Portland to Yarmouth in Nova Scotia was new and luxurious even if they had to sort out some problems. Canadian Customs took hours it seemed and we were not in bed till midnight!
Not a good night! Some guys were talking loudly next door and at 2.30am, John got up and thumped on their door saying ‘Some people were trying to sleep” No difference, kept talking. John then thumped on the wall. A slight difference but around 4.30am John had to thump again! He just about broke is arm!
This was taken in Lunenburg.
Three good things:
1. Some new and interesting history learnt from this remote place - Scottish Swiss, and German heritage. Not all French!
2. Seeing a big and old schooner come into the harbour under full sail.
3. Lots of fun in the hotel bar where we all practiced French, talked rubbish and laughed! I have to admit there was a few wines and an occasional lobster that took part!
@parisouailleurs Thank you Helene ♥ Maggiemae, I only just left you a note yesterday saying that I hoped you might come to Lunenburg! I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the noise. We would happily have accommodated you in one of our guest bedrooms... I sorry our paths didn't cross; it would have been lovely to meet you! (Friday: I'm home all day if you'd care to contact me...)
It looks so colourful. Sorry to hear that you had noisy inconsiderate neighbours. I hope that the rest of your stay in Lunenburg is undisturbed.
I also wondered whether you were in contact with Louise @Weezilou and whether or not you would be getting together.
@Weezilou Thanks Louise! Sorry I didn't know where you were in Nova Scotia. But as it was, we were on an organised tour from Yarmouth and only stopped for lunch in Lunenburg. Halifax today and then back to Yarmouth tomorrow via the North Shore. But still lovely to know that what we saw in Lunenburg is what you see!
great shot... not at all like the day you've described here, but for the blanket of clouds amassed overhead maybe... but bright and delicious visually beneath for sure.
@darsphotos We should have called Front Desk - they said so too as they apologised! I would have liked to trip that fellow up as he went past our room - still talking!
I haven't been to Nova Scotia - never even considered it - but this one image makes me itch to visit. You've caught the essential qualities of the place with one press of the shutter. Fav!
I have missed all these wonderful photos! This is a cracker, big Fave! You are having fun, I have never partied with a lobster before! Some people have no consideration at all!
Glad you got to stop here for a quick visit and I'm surprised Louise @Weezilou did not find you, as she seems to be everywhere. :D
You captured this fantastically, with so many interesting layers from the field of wild flowers & grass, to the stormy clouds. :)
Hope you managed to get some sleep after all that lot next door. 😊
