Almost at the end of our visit to Auckland we were able to go across by ferry to Devonport, a suburb on a peninsular in Auckland for an early lunch. Just lovely until a thunderstorm came through. In the meantime while waiting for the return ferry to arrive I saw this Navy Boat powering down the harbour. Harbour Bridge in the background. And in the left hand top corner you can see one of the Yacht Basins with all the masts!
Three good things:
1. At restaurants, all we need for a meal is the ‘appetiser’. Don’t know how people can eat so much!
2. Thought we got on all services free with our ‘golden card” but now its all changed. You have to organise your golden card with another one at different points and it costs. Good thing is we don’t need it not visiting that often.
3. Being able to go to bed early.
We've been in that very to Devenport, love the Auckland skyline as you look back! Is that big tree still there? Love the row of sailors on the deck! I agree about the food, I couldn't believe how much goes on some plates, we kept looking & thinking they would never eat all that but down it went!
@happypat Yes that tree is there. One place we have never been here are the tunnels which were used during the war! We like to sit here in the sun and view the blue sparkling waters of the harbour - a long way from the roar of traffic and grime and grit of the city!
