My bamboo flute by maggiemae

My bamboo flute

I think it is a Carnactic bamboo flute. One of my 365 friends has a husband who makes flutes and I was trying to find her amongst the pictures of the last few days! It appears to be impossible as nothing is alphabetical or with words you can choose to search. I haven't learnt to play it yet and only make weird hooting sounds!
Awesome

Owl Flute?

Not quite that hoot, Jason! @bobfoto More of a strangulated owl!

LOL. love the comments. This is a beauty Maggie!

I'm sure all the best started out with the same warbled sounds - you can only get better. I like your choice of black on black to highlight the rich red and white colours on the instrument.

Nicely done Maggie and I am sure you are underestimating your ability!

Lovely flute! Great shot, nice lighting

Nice flute, nice picture. Soon you'll be warbling instead of hooting.

Lovely instrument, the colours are fab and it's your photo that does it justice really beautifully taken!

@tonydebont I think it is Indian, Tony!
October 21st, 2012
@frida Thanks Frida - it will star as a picture rather than an instrument!

It's just beautiful ...looks like a piece of art!! Love the photo ...wonderful colors and clarity.

What a beautiful looking instrument. How many instruments do you play?
I have no doubt you will be making beautiful music in no time at all!

Great contrasting colours in this shot.

@maggiemae Thanks Maggie, I guess it was the black lacquered look that had me thinking Japan. Hope you get to enjoy playing it.
October 21st, 2012
@tonydebont well actually, Tony, it was my Japanese family who gave it to me and it does have that look but it is an 8 holed flute played like flute rather than a recorder. I think they got it on an Asian trip and thought, oh well give this to Mum! Mum (me) doesn't know how to purse her lips to produce the sound! Yet!

A work of art

I always love to hear the sound of bamboo flute. Beautiful capture!
October 21st, 2012
@peterdegraaff I think I've made this poor flute into a neat picture which I really like! Now I've got this idea I have to learn to play it!
October 21st, 2012
@chrismarfil do you know it, Chris? I haven't produced any sound that makes sense! It's the sound that puts cobras into trances!
October 21st, 2012
@catwoman2 I wish, Mary! I can produce something that sounds like a thrush, whistling through its teeth, if it had teeth!
October 21st, 2012
@maggiemae Oh, that's interesting i saw some tv show using flute to calm down a cobra, and yeah into a trance.
October 21st, 2012
@chrismarfil now at this moment, Chris - there is a cobra under the couch! If only I knew how to play!@cromwell might know!

Beautiful flute - my ... daughter played for about 8 years ...the first year was horrible, loved the sound after that though!!
October 21st, 2012
hook your camera up to it and do two things at once.
October 21st, 2012
Fabulous shot, looks great against the black background.
October 21st, 2012
Well it should be fun learning to master this, and you will have the whole town to follow you around.
October 21st, 2012
The lighting you've put on it makes it look so much more 21st century than something made from baboo! :)
October 21st, 2012
It's a beautiful instrument and I'm sure you'll master it soon. Great shot.
October 21st, 2012
Well, it's a beautiful instrument and even if you can't play it, it makes for a great picture!
October 22nd, 2012
neat photo!
October 22nd, 2012
Bet that has an amazing haunted sound!
October 23rd, 2012
@swguevin It might if I could get a sound to sound! Pursed lips and blowing only produces a slight wheeze!
