This huge Cruise ship tooted it's horn as it passed us high on the Otago Peninsula Heads where we were viewing the great Royal Albatrosses who nest there. The only mainland place in the world where they breed! Huge birds with a 3 metre wing span! After they learn to fly, they go to sea for 5 years before returning to this place. They don't breed till at least 7 years old and then only every second year.
@espyetta Yes, MaryBeth, I did but unfortunately both my camera batteries had gone flat owing to my turning the GPS on in it. I only had my iPhone and couldn't zoom.
This is a great advert for cruising....I have never been on a cruise but woukd think this one could be a good one! I love the little yellow lifeboats...I thought the ship was lit up,at first!
@grammyn@jennywren@eyesmile Unfortunately my camera's batteries both became flat and I had to use my iPhone! The pics are not the best as I couldn't zoom. I had turned the GPS on on my camera and it used up the batteries like I eat ice-cream!
I would love to see a picture of an albatross Sunday too!
