Another Wharf tale by maggiemae

Another Wharf tale

This is in Hicks Bay on the far East Coast of NZ. I showed a couple of characters my photo of the one at Tokomaru Bay which they knew and then said, oh, you have to take one of our pier! It proved to be even more interesting as it had a curve to it. Ruins at the end where fisher guys were trying their luck. To get to it, poor Sadie had to go through flooded potholes the size of a dining room table but she coped!

What these rough guys thought of a Mercedes being at this desolate spot, I don't know!
Another great wharf..

John was very good to take Sadie along such a rutty road, Harry would have refused but I say some things are more important than machines! Seeing this pier is one of them! I know you took the shot & you couldnt move things about but the composition here is perfect.

@happypat I was very nervous - didn't know how deep the potholes were and all other vehicles along further were tough four wheel drives!

@chard The two piers that I photographed are both down for renovation, Richard. They have a wonderful history but are a real ruin in parts.

I love the way the pier seems to go on forever. Beautiful wide-open sky too. It would be hard to get me to leave here.
