The leaves are falling off the trees and drying up very quickly on the ground. They crunch under your feet like potato chips. We need rain and a break from the HIGH TEMPS. Praying for some easy rain for our crops, fields and plants, and cooler temps. We don't need any more jolts like natural catastrophes and what they will do to our economy!
It looks so dry. You're in NC, right? 2 of my grandchildren are visiting their other grandparents near Boone in Seven Devils (hope I got that right). They live in FL but have a vacation condo up there. They're coming back next wk. Are you any where near. We're having a mixture of heat and rain here, thank heavens. I really hate it when it doesn't rain.
@cimes1 South Carolina, Carole. Probably about a six hour drive to Boone, NC. Glad you're not experiencing the drought along with Florida's heat and humidity. I used to fly to Baltimore a whole lot from Orlando... Whenever I'd come home and step off that plane, the humidity in the summertime was like stepping into a warm wall of water. Ugh! Each time, my body had to readjust to the difference in the humidity levels. I think the humidity is worse in the midlands of South Carolina. No mountain breezes to cool us off and no ocean breezes to blow through either.
@ruthmouch Maybe a bit hotter, Ruth! We had our drought last summer, too, with severe thunder storms! I fear they'll be along soon enough! Thank you for your comments and visit! Always appreciated!
@karenann Really? Okay. I certainly wouldn't fav it. LOL! But, I really do appreciate the sweet comment and your fav, Karen! Thank you! You'll be the only one, ya know?
@sanfil Thank you, Sandra! I really appreciate your kind remarks!
@cjphoto LOL! Glad you liked my description! Thank you, Chris!
We finally got some rain this afternoon and temps went down into the 80s which feels positively cool in comparison. It was ghastly for a while and the storm that blew thru here a week ago did some serious damage.
great shot......i like the background texture/graininess with the leaves.
oh, we are praying for rain too. today was a bit cooler, thank goodness, but there is no rain in the forecast:( our leaves are falling off too and everything looks fried.
@meisen325 I fear the severe thunder storms will come soon enough for us, too. Glad you got some rain and cooler temps! Thank you for stopping by, Monica!
@paulaag Hoping we all can enjoy a little rain and cooler temps soon, Paula! Thank you for your lovely comments! Always appreciated!
The heat has been brutal. We went to northern Michigan for 5 days and it is normally 10 degrees cooler than Detroit. Well it was - 92 degrees! And no AC, The horror!!!
@wannabe Need to check the weather again... Looks like 100F degrees tomorrow with a 30 percent chance of rain tomorrow night! Hope you get some soon, Catherine!
Maggie that looks like it is lit from within. Beautiful shot but I hate that you are getting that in early July. We were to have gotten rain today. It did drop the temps some but no rain to speak of. Back to the 90's tomorrow.....
Love the sandy ground and the leaf. Sorry, I fell off the face of the earth, but grabbed back on and am back to commenting and checking out the photos!
@debsulzberger Ack! I like it cold, Deb! I can always do something to get warm, but once you're stripped down to your birthday suit to cool off, there's not much else you can do besides stand in front of the frig with the door open, and you can't sleep that way. Thank God for AC!
Nice photo, Maggie. Too bad the weather is so hot there. We did not get a lot of rain either this year. Today it was 100 but cooled off some tonight, late so have our house fan on to bring in some of that cooler outside air. I sure hope is cools off and rains for you and the plants. We are looking at 105 plus over the next few days. I do not like the heat at all. Stay cool.
Beautiful Color and composition Maggie...Im sorry you havent had rain..Its hot here but definitly not dry thank God.,.The Crops are looking Great! I will say a prayer for your Crops Too!!! :)
Lovely shot, i think the weather is crazy for everyone at the moment =/ we all need a little switch round so you guys get some rain and we get some sun!
Beautiful tones. It does look very dry but I don't wonder. In summer we have 3/4 months of rainless days and the only way to keep the plants going is to water them regularly.
@darsphotos Thank you, Darlene! Hope we all can get some relief soon!
@myautofocuslife Appreciate your lovely comments, Livia! Hope we all can get a little relief soon! Thank you!
@ellimae Thank you, Ellen! Grateful for your comments! I don't have any personal crops. I was talking about the crops in the southeast and the midwestern states that are drying up from lack of rain and what that will do to the US economy in general and how that will drive up prices on everything else.
@mantha I agree, Sam! We need a bit of a switch - just some balance! Thank you for your comments! Most appreciated!
@zela Thank you so very much, Alena! Appreciate your sweet comments and visit!
@sangwann Thank you, Dione! I can't risk drying up my well by watering the plants. Oiy! I water my potted plants with dishwater to conserve water though.
@purdey Thank you so much, Sharon! The chances of rain look better tomorrow and a 50/50 chance on Wednesday. I just hope there are no severe storms to go with it!
Boy I hear you on that one!! It has been so hot here and I feel for all the hot weather across the states lately. We really don't need ONE more disaster, our economy is in enough trouble as it is! Nice shot btw!
@grannysue That's a great description! Thank you, Linda!
@rmkgreene Glad you can follow the money and see the light, Ruth! So many won't do that until it has personally touched their own little worlds! Thank you for your comments and visit! Most appreciated!
