I was telling an acquaintance of mine how the squirrels chewed the holes bigger in my blue bird houses so that the blues wanted nothing more to do with them. I knew she built all kinds of things from left over wood remnants and asked her if she could come up with something. I agreed to pay her for five new houses and she came through! Note the metal ring around the hole. Squirrels can't chew through that! She even shingled the roofs! Ha ha! I still have four to put up as soon as the nesting season is over. I have a blue bird pair feeding the babies in this one right now. =)
Let’s hope it keeps the squirrels away. My husband is currently waging war on the squirrels trying to protect our bird feeders. We are surrounded by trees and squirrels. I am amused watching them trying to outwit my husband.
@wakelys So far - it works! This one has been up a couple of years now. I haven't been able to climb a ladder to put up the other four yet. I can imagine how amusing it must be to try to outwit a squirrel. I've been trying for years, and the best I've found for the bird feeders is a SUPER SOAKER. LOL! Get them wet a few times and they stay away.
Pretty darn clever - had the best time watching the young squirrel try to climb the pole to the bird feeder the last time it rained - he usually has no trouble, but this was slippery and he kept sliding down. Amused me more than it did him.
@ryan161 Yessiree!
@milestonevisualmedia LOL!
