I'm a little excited that all my new bluebird houses are now up! Just in the nick of time too. Let the squirrels try to chew up these holes. Ha ha! An acquaintance made five of these for me. Each one is a little different. One got put up a few years ago and the other four finally got put up this past weekend. Got a couple of males singing their hearts out for a mate right now. I'd love to see baby blues in all five. =) Old house that this one replaced - https://365project.org/marlboromaam/extra-stuff/2021-03-24
@dutchothotmailcom Thanks, Esther! No. The bluebird house just like this one that's been up a few years has not bothered the bluebirds and the squirrels have not bothered with it.
Very nice accommodations. I really like how the entrance has a metal jamb. I’ve made a few bird houses and the those tenacious squirrels always make their way in. I think I’ll build my next one with a metal entrance. lol
@dkellogg Thank you, David! They seem to work discouraging the squirrels. I've seen more than one female bluebird turn her nose up at the chewed up houses. The one like this that went up a few years ago has been pretty successful. A pair of bluebirds raised three clutches in it last year.
@brillomick Thank you, Mickey! I can't keep the snakes from waiting on the ground, but I've never seen one crawl up my fence - or the power line poles.
@365jgh Thank you, Judy! These gray squirrels may be cute to some, but they're overpopulated here and a menace to birdhouses, hummingbird feeders, other bird feeders and even flowers in your pots and garden.
@kjarn Thank you, Kathy!
@cocobella That's a good way to word it!
@ljmanning Thank you, Laura!
@ludwigsdiana Thank you, Diana!
@monikozi Thank you, Monica!
@haskar Thank you very much, Haskar!
