I know I haven't been posting lately - I got all enthused about getting back into photography in the New Year, and now I am having problems with my laptop.
So - no computer! Hopefully I will be getting it back this week.
But - for your challenge - how about trying what I call selective focus (I don't know the proper name).
That is where you have both the foreground and background out of focus but the subject sharply in focus ...
