Korakuen Garden is one of Japan's three most beautiful gardens. It covers about 14ha and was completed in 1700. It has kept its original appearance to the present day. The Okayama Castle was originally constructed in the 1600s. Most of the original buildings were destroyed by fire and in WW2. The keep was rebuilt in 1966. It is sometimes referred to as the Crow Castle because of its black exterior.
The castle and gardens are being prepared for an illumination display which will unfortunately start a few days after we leave.
