Thump! Ouch! by milaniet

Thump! Ouch!

This little house finch hit the large kitchen window hard enough for me to hear it from the back of the house. Found him laying on the patio but still breathing (we have lost a few when they did that). Got a good chance at a close-up from inside the kitchen. He did recover shortly after.
A super catch, so unusual.

Poor dear, that happens more often then you think. We've lost some finches that way
I hope he recouped and flew way? You captured him well love the bright red color on his head...

Doesn't look too well. We have glass doors on either side of a room and some young birds think they can fly through.

Don't you hate to hear that sound. In the summer I had a chickadee that I thought was a goner. His neck wobbled and he kept falling over. After about an hour he flew away. Guess he had a hard head.

Oh geez i hate when this happens. I have put some bird decals and snow flakes made of bristle board in my windows inside plus some ribbons hanging in the windows outside to sway in the wind, it seems to be helping. Poor little one hope he will be ok.

You must have lovely clean windows Milanie. A very pretty little bird, poor thing. We have the same happening with the parrots as they leave the bird feeder and have now placed a large potted plant in front of the large lounge room window with effect, I think :)

Happens here too, always scares me, like you we've lost some that way. Glad this one recovered.

He looks a bit shocked! Love the little patches of red on him.

It's such an awful sound when birds hit a window. It's so loud and I often think there's no way the crasher survived, but most do. Glad you could share that this little finch recovered shortly thereafter.
