Better on black. Same heron from the main album. Watched him fly up the river but close to the bank. Didn't go real far (too hot to exert too much energy). So I approached slowly and quietly (my stealth mode?) and got off several shots of him standing there. Hadn't seen a heron in quite some time.

@jokristina We had a short heavy rain this afternoon - cooled off for the 15 minutes after it stopped - then hot and steamy. Sorry to say they're talking 100+ (not even the heat index) for the next 7 days in my part of western Arkansas. Hope the girls stay in the air conditioning!
Love this one too. Lovely 70-degree weather here today, but we had a teenager die from the heat Monday afternoon so take care when you're out and about.
@genealogygenie I try to walk from 6-8 in the morning - then maybe a short one after the sun breaks over in the evening. Any shots in between those times are 5 minutes outside the car and then back!
