9-20 hollow tree 50mm

This is the strangest tree - you know it must be dead with that huge hole in it but it's full of leaves. The hole's been there for many years. I've watched squirrels disappear down it and wonder what else lives in there. Not putting my hand down to find out!

I photographed a similar tree just a few days ago. A large portion of it is hollow but the tree seems alive and thriving. Go figure.
