Blown Up Cattails

How cattails seem to explode always interests me - they go through several stages. And as there wasn't a squirrel in the whole park, they got their picture taken! Did see a friend post on FB their first daffodils, so maybe they'll be color soon.
Yeah, they do tend to blow up or so it seems. Cool capture.

They're fascinating plants - have you ever seen them at the partially open phase? It's like they have a spiral zip.
