Peek-a-boo! I See You!

I was quite excited a few weeks back when I discovered a Nuthatch family had nested in a bird house my son Erick made many years ago. We have never had birds nest in it before, so this was a BIG event for me! Today I dragged one of the dining room chairs outside so that I could get enough height to take some pictures. My little point and shoot doesn't really handle close-ups too well, so I wasn't sure if I'd get anything at all. I wasn't sure if the neighbors caught a glimpse of my antics if they'd think I was sane either. But reputation and limitations aside, I was determined to at least give it a shot (ha ha). Well, I'm satisified with the results. The bird house may be blurry, but it's little resident is as clear and focused as my camera will allow. It's a silly analogy, but life is like that at times as well. You have to risk your reputation and set aside your limitations, give things a try and be satisfied with the results. Without trying, you will never know what you can accomplish.
Love your metaphor. Who cares what the neighbors think if you can reach your heart's desire! Have fun following your resident nuthatches.

What a sweet capture! I see at least two litte guys in there. And the focus turned out perfectly. I really like your analogy. I'm not a risk taker and have to remember sometimes you just need to go for it!

@allie912 @lisjam1 Allison, I just have to laugh at myself! I don't really worry about what the neighbors think but I do get a chuckle imagining what they might be thinking when I'm crouching down to photograph the plants, climbing on chairs to peer into birdhouses and so on. (o: Thanks Lisabell! Yes, there's two babies as far as I can tell and Mama becomes very nervous when I show up, so I'm trying not to bother them too much. The analogy just popped out as I was putting the picture up. Sometimes these things just come to me- life lessons I suppose.

Cute! Great shot! I have babies in a nest too, but I am afraid of the mother and father as they fly around and they ask as they are going to attack me. Thank you also for the follow. I am looking forward to your pictures.

@mrssmith Thanks Mrs. Smith! The parents do get protective don't they? But that's what they're supposed to do. (o: Now that I have at least one good shot, I don't think I'll bother them again. If I had a better camera, I might go for more, but I don't want to stress them out.

I like your 'thought for the day' - for me, starting 365 has launched me into the unknown and I'm so glad for the experience. It's opened up new worlds and is becoming a daily blessing as I connect with you all around the world.

They look quite snug in there. Glad you were able to capture them! Love your analogy, too!
P.S. If your camera has a macro setting (usually a flower symbol), it might be worth one more shot before they fly away...

What a great capture.

They are so cute just peeping out like that.

@jmj @roejan @lmasinton @digitalrn Thank you all for your thoughtful comments! Oh and Roe Jan- I always wondered what that flower was- I will definitely give it a try. I do try to read the manual for the camera, but sometimes it's a bit overwhelming!
