@mrssmith Necessity is the mother of invention! This has probably been the most boring winter I have ever lived through!! So season for a season's sake was out. Thus, another definition of season must emerge! Thanks Carla!
@karenann When in doubt- either use hypnotic or invert! Thank you Karenann!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! I was trying to keep it interesting.

Good colors, and exciting.

@sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry! I had taken some straight on but they were too typical.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! The inversion really added some intensity to them.
January 16th, 2012
very clever and imaginative! I really like this!
January 16th, 2012
@crickle1969 Thanks Crickle. Had to find a different interpretation since "winter" is not really wintery this winter! And who knows when it will be!!
January 16th, 2012
Great processing. Love the colours.

January 16th, 2012
Awesome shot! The angle and composition is cool and wow to the processing!
January 16th, 2012
@michaelelliott Thanks so much Michael! I wanted something a little different (got that for sure!) so after boosting the color a little in the original shot, I followed my usual path of trying this and trying that in the processing. I wonder what this would look like inverted led to the colors you see now and it was the pop I was looking for. Definitely a spicy shot!
January 16th, 2012
Wow! Why are they so fluorescent? :-) Must be something very spicy;-)
January 16th, 2012
cool capture
January 16th, 2012
Great processing!
What do you use when you process?
January 16th, 2012
Very nice! Love how you changed the picture's style to bright, neon colors - really shows the personality of each object. :) Very different, so I like it.
January 16th, 2012
Clever and really cool processing!
January 17th, 2012
@tanyasamol lol Tanya! The only cause of their flourescence is my handy-dandy processing (thank goodness!).
@steeler Thanks Howard!
@photobutton Thank you Siv! I use Picnik premium right now and probably will be using it for quite some time because it is so affordable. In this particular shot, I was experimenting somewhat so I'm not sure exactly what I ended up doing, but I think I did two things for certain. First I gave the color a boost (either using vibrance, boost, or just heating up the color in the basic edits) and then I inverted the colors. When you invert the colors, they come out in the color opposite of the colors in the original shot. I finish the photo off with a frame. My "favorite" is the basic border frame. I always pull out colors from the photo for those. In this shot I used the black of the background and the orange-red of the cloves bottle. I love trying different things in processing. Sometimes the effects just make me laugh- they make the photos look so different!
@rmcbuckeye Thanks Rachel! I liked it too- I felt it matched the idea of a "season" giving something flavor.

January 17th, 2012
Fun idea for the challenge word! I wish my spices were such interesting colours though :)
January 17th, 2012
@alia_801 lol Alia- you too can invert the colors of your spice jars and bring out some amazing colors! All you need it a handy dandy package of Picnik Premium Effects!
January 17th, 2012
Nice angle,,idea and also like the reflection.
January 17th, 2012
You know I've picnik prem. but have no idea how you got this!!
January 17th, 2012
@bruni Thanks Bruni! In the original shot, the jars are basically earth tones (except for the "orange" one which is really blue). I boosted the original shot just a bit and then used the "Invert" effect, which basically takes original color and makes it the opposite color on the color wheel (thus the blue becomes orange; white becomes black, etc.). Try an experiment: take a picture of something (or several items) in your home that is a very bright or vivid color, upload it to Picnik and then use the Invert effect and see what happens. That will give you a feel of what you can do with it in the future.
