The challenge for Saturdays in September is to find something that stimulates one of the senses. Since photography really plays to the sense of sight, I decided to make my Saturday sensation anything that catches my eye. The pattern on this wheel caught my eye the night we went to Christopher's opening soccer game. I had a little processing fun with it by inverting the colors. It made the pattern even more eye-catching I think.
Wow, I love the repetition of the pattern. . .it's like one of those things that if you stare at it long enough, you begin to see something completely different!
i echo lyn's @lyno observation that if you stare at it long enough, it gives you a different perspective. cool processing. originally, i was going to do sight, too, but i wasn't feeling particularly creative last saturday so i went for my favourite!
Thanks to all! I do appreciate all your comments and will get back to thanking you individually when I'm better caught up with life in general!
Dione- this is actually a color shot, but when I inverted it, it really changed the dynamic of the black tire and white highlights, giving it a black and white appearance.
@wenbow thanks Wendy- this one is the result of fooling around with the processing. The original was interesting too- but I liked how the inversion really accented the pattern.
@joannapayne Probably iPiccy. I've been going back and forth between that one and Picmonkey. Ribbet is now the new (former) Picnik. It has the exact same features and layout as Picnik- carbon copy! But things like inversion, hypnotic, the mirror frame and some of Picnik's other popular features are in the premium package which costs $$. I've been meaning to find out how much- it's probably not a lot and would be worth it to have those old favorites back in the photo processing tool box! But iPiccy is completely free and they also have some really nice collage layouts.
@olivetreeann It's taken a while but I've just opened iPiccy to play with and it looks great. Much better then Picmonkey which I've been using since Picnk's demise. Thank you so much for the link!
@joannapayne Thanks Joanna! I travel around these sites all week long. I use Picmonkey for some things, iPiccy for others and BeFunky for those shots I'd like to come out looking like a painting rather than a picture. But if you really miss Picnik- you'll want to go to Ribbet. It is Picnik from start to finish. It even has the same layout, features and frogs from Picnik. Right now, everything is free- but I think eventually they will charge for it- maybe not. I think the makers of Picnik had hoped that all their customers would jump over to whatever they were setting up with google. When that didn't happen, they were scrambling to get us all back, hence the reincarnation as Ribbet. Now they have the problem of competing with sites like iPiccy and Picmonkey which have most of their premium features for free. High competition in the post processing world!
