Tiberias 2004

Just 4 June: dairy/cow/maid/Old Maid Day (I always think of the card game when I hear "old maid")
Joy in June: I was in Israel when this shot was taken. Walking the land where Jesus and Abraham walked is a joyful experience.

Another shot from my archives to fill two challenges in one. This was taken on my third trip to Israel. Jeff was able to join me on this trip and he took the shot. It's not easy to find cows in Israel. There are more goats there than cows. But we found this gal and her baby at a little ice cream shop in Tiberias and had some fun posing with them. I'm not certain what the sign says, but I do know that the top line is Hebrew and the bottom is Arabic. When I saw the June words for today, I immediately thought of this picture.
Cool shot

Nice one... Love the cow with the sign.... But the black and white cows usually don't have horns (at least I don't think they do but I could be wrong because our black and white ones usually wind up being milked!). It's very cool to go down memory lane with you!

I missed this in Tiberias! But I have to say I found lots of farm related things during my tour of Israel :)

@prttblues Actually Holsteins naturally grow horns unless they are polled Holsteins (which means they were bred for not having horns) but usually in herds in the US farmers will preventatively dehorn cows so they don't hurt themselves, others in the herd or handlers.

PS this is National Dairy Month in the US and I have a list of dairy farmers who blog in a post I did this week if you are interested. http://janiceperson.com/food/food-poll/food-poll-favorite-cheese/

@prttblues Thanks Bev! Yes, he/she was a unique and fun discovery.
@jplovescotton When were you there Janice? This could also be a newer addition that was added after you visited- it was basically brand new when I was there.

I have always wanted to visit the Holy Land, but with everything so unsettled I really would fear going

@digitalrn There is really not much to fear. 1) Your tour company is completely in the know and will not bring you to the safe places. 2) Your tour company also has contacts all over the state and is completely up to date on which places are not safe. 3) Your tour company makes it living on satisfied customers. If customers get maimed or killed it's really not good for business!

@olivetreeann I was just there in 2011. Like @digitalrn I was a bit nervous about the instability of the region but then I realized it has never been stable, like ever! The tour companies are pros and really take care of things. I've never been a tour traveler but for Israel it truly is the way to go.

Lovely capture.

@jplovescotton That's great Janice! I would love to go back someday and lead a tour of my own. But that doesn't seem to be in God's plans right now, so I remind myself of how many don't make it there at all.
@sangwann Thanks Dione!
