Today's Just 4 June word is umbrella. We're off to see my niece in an outdoor production of Les Mis tonight so I decided to pull another picture out of the archives and post early. This shot was taken circa 1985-6 with my Yashica FX-3. At the time Jeff was working for a check printing company which had a monthly competition for its employee newsletter. Photographers could submit photos and if your shot was chosen, it appeared either on the front or back cover. This shot was one of my first "prize" winning photos and I was so excited! Of course I look at it now and think of how I'd improve it! The shot was taken at the Monmouth County Fair and is the view one sees when looking up into one of those brightly colored kiddie rides.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @mrssmith203 Thank you Carla! It was a long time ago, but it still makes me smile. @eniaral Thanks Laraine! @allie912 Thanks Allison! It was very colorful as are a lot of those kiddie rides. @omabluebird Thank you Susan! It was a while back but in a way I could have taken it yesterday. 365 has really heightened my ability to look at the everyday things in a new and different way. @sgiesman Thanks Sarah! I think I'd tweak a few things on it now that I know a bit about processing but all in all I still like the shot very much.
Thank you everyone! I do love this shot and I'm glad I've been transferring some of my old shots to digital. For those who asked the production was spectacular! I did not take any photos though. We were in good seats for people viewing, but not for my camera. Rather than get frustrated with out-of-focus zoom shots (no flash photography allowed), I decided to just sit back and enjoy the show. I'm glad I decided to do that- it was very powerful!
@eudora Yes I do- and I have used it a few times for 365. I always say I should use it more- but I've gotten so used to the light-weightness of my little digital and how quickly I can focus it with the push of a button that I've gotten lazy about using the 35mm.
@grannysue Thanks Linda! I always say I should pull it out and use it again, but I have to say the digital is so much lighter and I can switch back and forth between color and b/w with just a push of a button. I've gotten spoiled too by being able to see the shot right away!
