@taffy Thank you Taffy! We do a thorough cleaning every fall before we start burning. Jeff climbs on the roof, sends a brush down and cleans the pipe. Then he comes inside and cleans out the firebox, flue and whatever else needs it with the shop vac. It's not as visible in this shot but there is actually quite a bit of space between the stove and the first tier, plus between the tier and the hearth. There is also (I think) at least a foot of space within the hearth and extra space around the part of the stove which is inserted into what used to be the fireplace. All this is above and beyond the fire code and specifications from the makers of the stove. The stove may be hot but you can literally stick your hand under there and not feel the heat. That's well ventilated and we never let it overheat either. Another great feature of this stove is the after-burn or second burn. It keeps the creosote from building up in the stove pipe by burning off the excess gasses from the wood. You can somewhat see that happening here where the fire looks like it's swirling around the top. Thanks for checking up on us!
@olivetreeann Ah...all will be well then! This is the way our wood burning stove is on the island. And I like that you can see all around it. Now it feels scary having a fireplace 'hidden' in the wall!
@skipt07 Thank you Skip and thanks so much for the fav! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @taffy Thanks again Taffy- yes, I know how important the safety issue is for you! And I appreciate your concern. We actually had some friends (back when we lived in NJ) who had a similar incident to yours- a fire broke out in their chimney and the walls around it because the pellet burning stove had not been installed correctly. Thankfully they did not lose the house, but it was a real mess!
Very beautiful capture and very sharp, too. We do not have severe weather conditions in Malta but young families are picking up the fashion of installing fireplaces in their homes.
Looks fabulous and warm! Tuesday night, I had to get back out of bed because I realized we had turned the heat off Monday when it was so warm and hadn't turned it back on. Good thing I did, since we got snow. We need one of these. Definitely needed it last year in NH.
This looks like the kind of fire I love to dream before. It reminds me of the fires of my childhood. I loved the sound, the smell of wood burning and the movement of the flames. The only thing I didn't like were the chilblains!
Lovely in B&W.........it shows all the detail.
We love our woodstove up until my husband has to go up on the roof to clean the chimney spring and fall. He enjoys that part less and less, nothing beats heat given off from a woodstove on a cold winters day.
@vesna0210 Thank you Vesna! @radiogirl Thank you Kathy! Yes, Jeff cleans ours out too- but since this model has the ability to do a second burn off the gasses released from lower burn, we only have to do it once a year- just before we start burning in November. @pyrrhula Thank you Pryyhula!
That looks so warm and inviting. I like that it has a clear front so you can see the logs and fire. Nice shot. The b&w brings out the texture more I think.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!

My thanks to all! I really appreciate your comments!
@ceilidh So, now I'm curious- what are chilblains?
